Training: Year 11
In Year 11 the students build on the knowledge gained in Year 10. The training is mainly assessor-led and the training environment will be used in the most appropriate way for students to be able to meet the assessment requirements. Classroom work will build on the evidence required for portfolios. Students are encouraged to raise the level of their written work to meet the criteria and cover all necessary aspects of it. We encourage the students in the standard of their work and behaviour at this stage in order to simulate a working environment. The majority of Year 11 students will have completed their NVQ portfolio by the time their GCSE exam timetable begins. Review of progress
Reports will be written each term and sent to the schools. We will also canvass the student’s opinion regularly by issuing evaluation reports. Schools are able to constantly monitor the students due to good levels of communication with the schools by NTS. Support arrangements
The students’ main support comes from their own school coordinator. However, they will have ready access to the support of a school liaison coordinator at NTS. The students often flourish in an environment in which they are treated as young adults. At induction the students sign a learner agreement to ensure that discipline is upheld; we expect them to take responsibility for their own behaviour and actions. Assessments
The assessors become involved from the beginning of Year 11 and work closely with the tutors and keep regular contact with their trainees. Consistent assessment throughout the year allows for steady progress and better monitoring.. Apprenticeship programme
We run a student apprenticeship programme for sixth form students in which the students spend one day per week at Norfolk Training Services and another day in a placement. The course is for two years and students will be working towards completing NVQ Level 2 units. Student testimonials
